If you normally use a PC financial program — such as Quicken® — to manage your money, you can use Z-FINANCE to record transactions that occur while you’re away from your PC, then download them when you return. In the same way, you can download account information from your PC to your Zaurus, so that you always have up-to-date information about your balances. Any PC program that supports Quicken’s .QIF file format can exchange data with Z-FINANCE. However, you will need some form of PC linking software, like Rupp’s RuppLynx. Transferring data from Z-FINANCE to your PC 1. Use the Show box to choose the account from which you want to transfer data. 2. Touch Utils and select Send to PC Files from the menu. The "Send to PC Files" screen will appear. 3. The name of the account appears in the top text box. If you want to change the file name that will appear on your PC, swipe the name to highlight it, and type in the new name. 4. In the next menu box, choose whether to save the PC file in your Zaurus memory or on an IC card. (If you plan to use an IC card, insert the card first before touching the menu. Consult your Zaurus manual for details on using IC cards.) 5. To transfer only the entries that fall within a certain date range, touch the Limit entries... box, then enter the start and end dates. 6. Use the Only send entries of type: menu to send all the entries, or only entries that have been tagged or cleared (reconciled). 7. When you have set all the export criteria, touch Done. 8. To see the PC File that is ready for transfer, touch the MORE application button, then touch the PC FILES screen button in the upper left corner. To return to Z-FINANCE, touch the S’WARE screen button in the upper left corner and touch the Z-FINANCE icon. 9. Run your PC’s linking software to import the file from your Zaurus. Transferring data from your PC to Z-FINANCE 1. Run your PC’s linking software to export the file to either the main memory of your Zaurus, or an IC card inserted in your Zaurus. 2. To see the PC File that is ready for import to Z-FINANCE, touch the MORE application button, then touch the PC FILES screen button in the upper left corner. To return to Z-FINANCE, touch the S’WARE screen button in the upper left corner and touch the Z-FINANCE icon. 3. Use the Show menu box to select the account in which you wish to have the PC file entries imported. Imported entries will be appended to the existing entries in the account. To prevent duplicate entries, delete all entries from your Z-FINANCE account that also appear in the import file. 4. To import the file, touch Utils and select Import PC File from the menu. The "Import PC File" screen will appear. 5. Touch the Import From menu to specify whether the file is stored in the main unit or on an IC card. 6. Touch the PC File screen button to see a list of all import/export files in your system. Then touch the file name you wish to import and it will appear in the file name text box. Or if you know the name of the file, you can type it in the box. 7. Touch the box next to Replace current categories to import the budget categories in the PC file. Note: When you import a new set of categories, the categories currently on your Zaurus will be deleted. 8. When you have set all the import criteria, touch OK. 9. The imported entries will appear in the active account ledger. This manual is Copyright © 1997 by RuppSoft, LLC. All Rights Reserved.
