Installation

Installation Requirements

To install SynchroLynx, you need the following:

An IBM compatible computer
Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Workstation
Supported PIM software and/or MS Word, Excel
A cable or infrared device to connect the PC to the Zaurus

Installing SynchroLynx

Before you begin, it is strongly recommended that you back up your PIM data and, if some method is at your disposal, your Zaurus data.

To install SynchroLynx:

Close all open applications.
Insert Disk 1 into the PC 3.5" floppy drive.
Select Run from the Start menu. Type d:\setup, where d: is the assigned drive letter of the 3.5" drive. (If your floppy drive is assigned a different letter, substitute that letter.)
Click Next on the Welcome screen. It is strongly recommended that you close all open applications. If you have not done so, please do so now.
Enter your name and the company name for this registered software. Click Next.

Select the destination directory to which you want SynchroLynx installed. You may also accept the default directory. Click Next.
When you click browse, and select a folder to install into, the SynchroLynx installation will add "SLX" to the selected folder.
Select the applications for which you want SynchroLynx installed. You will only have those applications that are installed on the PC as available choices. Click Next.

SynchroLynx has all the information it needs to install. To start installing, click Next. To review the selections that you have made on previous screens, click Back. To cancel the installation, click Cancel.
Once the installation is complete, you will be prompted to restart your computer. Click OK.

Note to Outlook users: Should you need to install more than once, it is advisable that you install to the same drive and folder every time to avoid known problems. For more information, see the Outlook section in this manual.

Using SynchroLynx

Once SynchroLynx is installed on your computer, you can use it by opening the PC software with which you have chosen to install SynchroLynx. Embedded in each PC application menu is a Zaurus menu. Select SynchroLynx options from the Zaurus menu!
