Installation

¨ Installation Requirements

To install SynchroLynx, you need the following:

  • An IBM compatible computer,
  • Microsoft Windows 95,
  • Microsoft Schedule+ 7.0, and
  • A cable or infrared adapter that connects your PC to the Zaurus.

¨ Installing SynchroLynx

Since SynchroLynx embeds itself into Schedule+, the program must be installed onto your PC.

Step 1: Insert the SynchroLynx 3.5" diskette labeled Disk 1 into your PC.

Step 2: In Windows 95, select Run from the Start menu and then type a:\setup (type b:\setup if you are using the B drive).

Alternatively, select Settings from the Start menu. Then select Control Panel, followed by Add/Remove Programs and then Install . . . . On the command line, type a:\setup (type b:\setup if you are using the B drive).

Step 3: Follow the directions on the screen and insert Disk 2 when prompted.

  • Setting up SynchroLynx for the First Time

When installing SynchroLynx, a Customize Contacts screen will appear that will allow you to setup some of your SynchroLynx personal settings. On this screen you will be able to specify the Zaurus contact files (Business, Contact 2, or Contact 3) you want to synchronize with your Schedule+ contacts. If you select more than one Zaurus contact file, additional options will be displayed to allow you to choose:

  • The Schedule+ field (User 1, User 2, User 3, or User 4) to be used to store Zaurus contact file IDs. Since the Zaurus has multiple contact files, this information is necessary to ensure SynchroLynx places Schedule+ information in the right Zaurus file.
  • The Zaurus contact file to be used to store Schedule+ contacts that do not have Zaurus contact file IDs.

Once you have selected the options you want, place your Zaurus in PC-Link mode (as described in the next section) and press Finish. Your Schedule+ data and Zaurus data will then be synchronized. Please note that the first synchronization could take a long time depending on the amount of data to be synchronized. However, subsequent synchronizations should be much faster.
