You can personalize RuppLynx in many ways to meet your specific needs. General Options Use this window to specify: How the time and date are displayed. What computer port you are using to link up to your hand-held unit. How you are linked to the Comm Port by direct cable or IR unit; if by IR unit, whether or not it is an Actisys unit; if so whether or not to enable Comm Port Polling. Enabling Comm Port Polling allows you to send data from your hand-held unit directly to your PC clipboard (see page 57) or to print data directly to your PC printer (see page 59). You must have an IR link to use Comm Port Polling. Default view choose Record if you want to scroll through each record or Index mode if you want to see a list of records (similar to the display on your hand-held unit). Of course, you can always change views from your Application. Whether or not you want the Application Windows that are open when you quit RuppLynx to be reopened the next time you run the program. Secret Mode RuppLynx now allows you to hide secret data just like you do on your Hand-held unit. Start by choosing Set to add a new password. If you already have a password, then you must remove the old password before you can set another. Once a password has been set, your secret data will be hidden. The password used by RuppLynx is independent of any password you may use with your hand-held unit.Once a password has been set and Secret Mode is on, all secret records will be hidden when you first launch RuppLynx. To turn secret Mode on or off, click on the File menu and select Lock/Unlock. Data Sets If you are supporting more than one of the same type of hand-held unit, or if you have so much data that you cant fit all of it on your unit at one time, you can create additional data sets. To create a new data set, click on New. You must create a new directory for each data set. In the Description box, type the name of the new data set. Then enter the drive and directory where you want to store the second data set. If you have not already created a directory for the new data set, click on Browse, then type in the drive, path and name of the new directory. Note: To switch from one Data Set to another, click on the File menu and select Active Data Set. Keep in mind that every time you change data sets, the dependencies you selected for that data set are NOT switched automatically. You must go into Time Manager and make any necessary changes to your dependencies. (See page 23 for more information.) ToolBar Setup 1. Use Display Type to specify whether the toolbar buttons appear as icons, text descriptions, or both. 2. Specify which application icons you want to appear on the toolbar. Click on the Toolbar Icons menu to see the icons currently on the toolbar. You can place as many or as few icons on the toolbar 3. To delete an icon from the toolbar, click and highlight the icon, then select Delete. 4. To insert an icon, click on the Available Icons menu, touch the icon you wish to insert and select Add. 5. If you want the icons to appear in a certain order, you can delete all of them, then add them in again in the order you want them to appear. When you do this, you can also add a space between certain icons to separate them into groups. To do this, select and insert a Space. 6. If you want a "Bubble Help" description of an icon to appear when you point at it with the mouse, mark the Enable Bubble Help box. Time Manager Use this window to define how the Time Manager checks for clashes in your schedule. There are two types of time clashes, Time and Daily. Time clashes occur when time-based records such as schedules and appointments overlap. Daily clashes occur when date-based records such as To Dos, Holidays or Anniversaries clash on the same day. You can choose which applications the Time Manager will search by choosing Dependencies. To Define Dependencies: 1. Click on the Primary Applications menu and select the application you want to protect from clashes. Example: Select Zaurus Appointments if you want to check for time clashes when entering new events in Zaurus Appointments. 2. Select Add File. A window appears showing the files matching the chosen application type. Zaurus users will .ZAR data stored on the main memory of your Zaurus ZAC data stored on an IC card
Select the required file and choose Proceed. 3. Fill in the dependencies list with all the files that may contain clashes with the Application you selected. To do this, click on any file name in the Dependencies menu. A window appears. Select the files which you wish to add to the dependencies list. Select List files of type to change the type of files shown Tip: start by adding the files of the Primary Application to the dependencies list. That way, when you add new events to that file, it will check for clashes with its own records first. 4. Repeat Step 3 until you have added all the dependencies required. To delete a dependency, select it and click Delete. Day Information Use this section to tell RuppLynx how you allocate your time. 1. Use Day Start and Day End to define the start and end of your working day. 2. When you schedule an appointment without specifying an end time, RuppLynx will automatically insert an end time based on the minutes entered in the Default Duration box. 3. Use the Time Slots box to indicate how you like to schedule appointments. Example: if you generally make appointments on the half hour, set 30 min. When you use the Find Time function or drag appointments on the Weekly Graph, RuppLynx will use this value as the minimum amount that an appointment can move. (See page 41.) 4. Mark Include Weekends to make bookings on a weekend without warning. 5. Mark the Working Day Boundaries box if you want the Time Manager to warn you when you make an appointment outside of your working day. 6.
