Introduction

Welcome to RuppLynx 4.0, the complete workshop for Sharp K-PDAs and Organizers. With RuppLynx you can back up and restore data, transfer files to and from your PC and merge data together from more than one source.

Important! — Before you start...

1. Make sure you received all of the following in your RuppLynx box:

• 3 Program Diskettes

• This Instruction Manual

• Registration Card

If anything is missing, call (800) 844-7775.

2. Fill out and return your registration card immediately to activate your warranty.

3. Please read the instructions in Chapter 2 — Installation and Chapter 3— Getting Started before using RuppLynx.

System Requirements

To use RuppLynx 4.0, you need the following:

• PC running Microsoft® Windows 95™ or Windows NT 4.0

• At least 8MB of RAM

• At least 7MB of free space on your PC’s hard disk.

• A compatible Sharp Organizer or K-PDA
(see Chapter 1, "Organizers/K-PDAs Supported")

• PC link cable or IR unit

Attention Upgraders — New Features Added to Version 4.0

This new version of RuppLynx is a 32-bit program designed to access all
the features and processing power of Windows 95 and NT 4.0. You’ll
find a number of new features that will help you do more with less effort.

For instance:

• Support for even more Sharp models, including the Zaurus 3XXX series, OZ-8XXX series Wizard Organizers and YO-6XX Organizers.

• You can now select a preferred view — INDEX or EDIT. Also, you can now display multiple indexes on your screen at the same time. The new index mode allows RuppLynx to operate more like your Zaurus or Organizer.

• A SECRET mode prevents confidential data from being displayed on your screen until you enter your password. (Keep in mind that the data is simply hidden on the screen — it is not safe from an advance computer user.)

• The SPELLCHECKER now works for all applications. Plus, it has been augmented
with a bigger dictionary, auto-correction
and autohyphenation.

• The new IR-clipboard function lets you transfer data directly from your hand-held unit to your PC clipboard.

• The new PRINT THROUGH facility lets you print data from your hand-held unit directly to any supported PC printer via an IR unit .

• An ACTIVE DATA SET option lets you switch data sets with a single mouse click.
