Installation

System Requirements

To use RuppLynx 3.1, you need the following:

· An IBM PC or 100% compatible computer running Microsoft Windows 3.1 in enhanced mode or Windows 95

· At least 4MB of RAM

· At least 6MB of free space on your PC's hard disk.

· A compatible Sharp Organizer or K-PDA (see Chapter 1, "Organizers/K-PDAs Supported")

· A mouse.

Upgrading

If you are upgrading from a previous version of RuppLynx, the installation program will ask you whether you want to overwrite the old program (but keep the data stored in it) or create a new directory for the new version of RuppLynx. If you overwrite the program, the data now in your PC will still be available to you when you run the new version of RuppLynx.

Installing RuppLynx

1. Insert Installation Disk 1 in your PC disk drive.

2a. From Windows 95 -- click on the Start menu and select Run. Then type A:SETUP (or B:SETUP) and press Enter.

2b. From Windows 3.1 or earlier -- From the Program Manager File menu, select Run. Then type A:SETUP, (or B:SETUP) and press Enter. Important: Do not attempt to install RuppLynx 3.1 from the Windows File Manager.

3. The "Installation Wizard" will check your system and the installation process will begin. Answer the questions asked by the installation program. You will be instructed when to insert Disk 2.

4. Just before installation is complete, you will be asked which units you wish to support. Select all the models you plan to support.

You can only choose one specific model of Organizer within an Organizer type. If you plan on supporting more than one model, don't worry . You can do this once the program is installed. For now, simply choose the model you will support most often. (See Chapter 3: Setting Up RuppLynx, "Organizer Model.")
Program Icons

Once installation is complete, the RuppLynx 3.1 program icons will be added to your Windows system:

RuppLynx 3.1 -- The main program icon which launches RuppLynx 3.1.

RuppLynx Help -- Help file for RuppLynx 3.1. You can access help either from this icon or while you are running the program.

Program Changes -- A list of differences between RuppLynx 3.1 and RuppLynx 3.0 & 3.01.

ReadMe -- Important information about the program that became available after this manual was printed.

Uninstall RuppLynx -- Use this when the next version of RuppLynx is released, or to delete the program including all hidden Windows files. The Uninstall program does not delete any of the RuppLynx data files.
